The VHV modular construction system mainly uses shaft-mounted gear units and due to maintenance and safety reasons does without V-belt and chain reduction gears wherever possible. Standard parts allow most varying pulley and shaft diameters. Self-aligning roller bearings are mainly used in pillow block housings. External back stops permit expansion and change in direction of rotation.

Holding costs are saved for gears as these can be used on both sides. Drive sides are changeable right/left and mountable as head and tail drive. External mounting components as scrapers, slip monitors, baffle plates,
tensioning devices etc. may be fitted at any time. Adjustments of the discharge parabola are possible by set screws between drive head and conveyor framework.
Safety regulations are guranteed by using full guards over the pulley, between the belts and smallest lateral gap between pulley shell and side cladding. VHV front segment scrapers lie space savingly within the side cladding and are swingable corresponding to the upward incline of conveyor.

This saves transfer heights and maintenance intensive chutes underneath the drive pulley.
